Sea Days 5 & 6
December 21 - 22, 2023

Sea Day 5

I felt well-rested when I awoke on this sea day. I had no more headache, stuffy nose, or any other symptom that had been trying to attack me during the last two days. The only thing I noticed was that I must have had a fever that broke overnight. I was drenched in sweat when I woke up. I requested that our room attended change our sheets. Other than that, I felt great.

We had two sea days before we reached Sydney, Australia which was where our cruise would end. We passed the time by taking part in ship activities and relaxing on occasion. Traci took a dance class and then went to a cupcake demo. The cupcake demo was not what she expected. It was for children.

I relaxed on our balcony where it was sunny but not hot. I was surprised that I happened to see a can floating way out here in the middle of this vast Pacific Ocean. I later went up to the pool deck to listen to the house band play pop music. The music was very energetic. The pool deck became a dance party.

I took a break from relaxing to attend an intro to Tagalog course (Filipino language). Many of the crew on the ship were from the Phillipines - including our room attendant. I was hoping to surprise her by thanking her in Tagalog; however, I had forgotten the phrase by the next time I saw her.

I met with my trivia team for 4 PM trivia. As usual, we did not win but had a good time.

For dinner, Traci and I joined our DMV friends in the Taste dining room. Since we missed the memo about wearing white a few nights ago, we decided tonight would be our white night. We wore our white clothes and took photos after dinner.

Traci went to bed afterwards. I joined Sam and Annette in the Spinnaker Lounger to listen to the house band play. They were playing classic rock. I have never been an avid listener of rock music but I was surprised by how many of the songs I knew.

Sea Day 6

Sadly, the final day of our amazing cruise had arrived. Traci and I had breakfast in the Windows dining room as usual. We did not do very much that day. It was a gray day with large waves. The ship's stablizers continued to impress me. I barely felt any movement despite the size of the waves.

I took care of some administrative stuff such as pick up the luggage tags needed to disembark from the ship and fill out documentation for our entry into Australia.

Of course, I met my team at 4 PM for our final trivia game. This was our worse performance of the entire cruise. We only got 10 out of the 20 questions correct. Traci joined us for the food trivia game that followed. We did better by scoring 15 out of 20.

Traci and I had our "Last Supper" at the Taste dining room and said goodbye to the staff there. We attended the 7 PM show in the Stardust Theater. It was called Elements and it was the best show of the cruise. It was a mix between film and live performance. The live portion of the show reminded me of Cirque du Soleil with fog, music, aerialists, and acrobats.

Farewell Show Aboard the Norwegian Spirit

There was nothing left to do after the show other than pack. We needed to have our luggage outside our cabin by 11 PM so that the crew could take it off the ship in the morning.

I did not sleep well that night for some reason. This was a rare occurrence for me. It turned out to be a blessing. Around 4 AM, I started hearing people talking outside the ship. I looked out from our balcony and saw the lights of Sydney. I did not see the source of the talking; however, I am assuming I was hearing conversations between the pilot boat crew the crew of our ship. I put on some clothes and went to the top deck of the ship. I arrived just in time to see our ship pass under the Sydney Harbour Bridge on that rainy morning. Continue...
