Sea Day 4
December 19, 2023

I liked the mix of sea days versus port days on this cruise. The sea days were an opportunity to relax and not worry too much about schedules. My throat was still scratchy but at least it felt like it was getting better.

We definitely took our time getting started that day. We arrived at the Windows dining room for breakfast at 9:30 AM. The hostess informed us that they were already closed but then made an exception to let us eat there. The rest of our day consisted of relaxing, eating, and occasional activities. Traci and Jackie took a dance class. Traci played bingo again but her luck had run out this time. She did not win anything.

I went to a seminar that was presented by amazing acrobatic aerialists, Duo Delight, whose show we saw a few days prior. I thought it was going to be a discussion about their act. Boy, was I wrong. This was an exercise class that began with stretching and then some rather intense strength training moves. The session finished with an explanation of a basic technique for lifting your partner. We were encouraged to try it. I declined because I was too nervous about causing injury if I did not hoist my partner correctly.

I met with the family from North Carolina to play trivia at 12:30 PM; then again for our regular progressive trivia at 4 PM including our DMV friends. I guess I was really in the mood for trivia that day because I joined the family from North Carolina for pub trivia at 7 PM. Our team got respectable scores in all the games but still did not manage to win.

With the menus repeating in the dining rooms, Traci and I were actually starting to get tired of the cruise food. At lunch, we just had appetizers and dessert - no entree. We found some time to relax in our cabin. We were traveling through a storm with driving rain, strong winds, and large waves. Vomit bags were placed around the ship. I was really impressed with the stabilizers on the Norwegian Spirit. Despite the conditions, the ship movement was not too bad. We did not experience any seasickness.

Ian Cooper, the violinist, performed again in the Stardust Theater for the evening show. I actually convinced Traci to join me this time. Just as he did in his first show, the violinist played a variety of genres but different selections than the previous week. It was entertaining. Traci said she enjoyed the show. Continue...
