Sea Day 3
December 16, 2023

I woke up feeling well rested on this sea day. Setting the clock back by an hour the night before really helped. We began the day like we normally did with breakfast at the Windows dining room. Since we were in the second week of the cruise, many of the dining room staff and crew knew us by name. Some of the dining room hosts even knew our cabin number at that point since we needed to provide it each time we arrived at the dining room.

The rest of the day was filled with activities. Traci continued her winning streak at bingo. She won $50. She then participated in a comical cake decorating contest with the ship’s comedian. I was not there, but it must have been memorable because everywhere we went after the event, someone would recognize Traci as "The Cake Lady".

Traci became known as "The Cake Lady" after this hilarious contest with the ship comedian.

The movie "Paint" was shown in the theater. They even provided popcorn. Traci went with the intention of watching just a little of the movie before going to play cards with our DMV friends but ended up watching the entire film and missing the card game. It was a busy day for her, but she still managed to squeeze in a nap.

My day consisted of enjoying the warm air on the pool deck and enjoying ice cream from the buffet. I attended a Q&A session with the captain and some of his officers. It was interesting talk about what it takes to run a ship of this size. I later went to a CruiseNext presentation, which talked about some of the mega ships in the Norwegian fleet and some of the cruise destinations.

The captain and officers talk about their responsibilities.

At 4 PM, Traci and I met up with the family from North Carolina and our DMV friends for afternoon trivia. This was progressive trivia meaning your score was recorded each sea day. Whichever team accumulated the most points by the final sea day was the winner. Our team was off to a good start.

Our eating was starting to get out of hand. Traci and I had lunch at the Windows dining room as usual; however, on this day, we also went to The Local for fries and pretzel bites after the 4 PM trivia. Even though, I did not have much of an appetite by dinnertime, I continued to eat anyway.

We attended an outstanding evening show in the Stardust Theater. It featured an acrobat team called Duo Delight. This couple from Ukraine did some amazing acrobatics and aerial stunts. They received a standing ovation at the end of their performance.

Our evening was not quite done. We attended the 10 PM Glow Party in which the staff applied neon paint to the face and hands of passengers so that they would glow under the ultraviolet lights as they partied. It was a fun party. By this time, even the assistant cruise director, Joey, knew Traci by name. He invited her on the stage to dance. Our only disappointment is that we missed the part in the daily cruise documentation that encouraged people to wear white. We had brought white clothes on the cruise but did not realize that this was the night we were supposed to wear them.

It was a fun sea day; however, there was a little more ship movement than usual. I noticed that any time I attempted to read or look at my phone. I started to feel seasick. I was thinking about taking Dramamine to combat the seasickness but since it was getting late, I decided just to go to bed and see how I felt in the morning.. Continue...
